Which Christmas tree do you prefer: artificial or real? My family had always put up an artificial tree, but my husband grew up with a real tree at Christmastime. When we were married, we made a deal that I would try a real tree the first year. If it didn’t work out? The faux evergreen would be in the living room the following year. ;) But as it turns out, I fell in love with my first Douglas fir. And picking the actual tree was a fun day out in the country for us. I decided to make a mini album (uh, a year later… proving that it’s never too late to scrapbook those memories!) of our Christmas tree story.

I used mostly the Simple Stories Cozy Christmas collection. I just love the wood accents, the calligraphy font, and the shimmery gold accents. Some Making Memories and Colorbok stickers in my stash also worked their way into this mini album.

I’ve been holding onto this gold K&Company 4×6 photo album for awhile now … a good find in the scrapbooking aisle at Target!

I printed all the photos in the album as 4×6. Most of them were originally on my iPhone; a few my husband took with his camera. Printing all the photos the same size keeps it super simple and means I’m done printing quickly, and can move onto the fun part: playing with paper and embellishments.

Complementing full-page photos with full-page design elements and phrases adds some variety to the album, so it’s just not page after page of photos.

This Papertrey Ink Christmas tree stamp sneaked its way into the album, too.

Have I mentioned my current obsession with enamel dots? They go.on.everything!

This teeny label element is trimmed from the larger journaling card I used for the “Our Story” page (above). I always keep the scraps while I’m working. You never know how they might be useful as you’re finishing up a project.

I have to admit that I got lucky that the collection had plaid paper in it and the guy bailing our tree in the photo was wearing a plaid shirt that day. :)

Those enamel dots again … this time, as an accent on the wheels of the truck.

On this wintry page, I punched out a vellum circle for journaling, so you could still see the Sparkle Flurries pattern shining through underneath.

Hope this post encouraged you to scrapbook those Christmas memories and moments. Don’t feel pressure to scrapbook it all … telling the story of one special event can be just as meaningful.
